AI Rephraser & Translator

Rewrite, translate, and generate text with AI.

What Is the AI Rephraser?

The AI Rephraser in SoundWorks connects to large language models — ChatGPT (OpenAI) and Claude (Anthropic) — through your own API keys to provide text rephrasing, translation, and content generation directly within your workflow. Write a rough script, paste existing text, or input notes, and get polished, translated, or restructured output without leaving SoundWorks.

This is one of the few SoundWorks features that uses an internet connection, because it communicates with external AI services. However, you use your own API key, the traffic goes directly to the provider, and DMKI Lab has no access to your prompts or responses.

Why Use the AI Rephraser?

Rephrase for clarity. Take rough notes, first drafts, or technical text and rephrase it for a specific audience. Make content more accessible, formal, casual, or concise.

Translate content. Translate scripts, subtitles, descriptions, and other text between languages using state-of-the-art language models. More natural results than traditional machine translation.

Generate scripts from outlines. Turn bullet points and outlines into full narration scripts. Useful for video production, podcast preparation, and presentation scripting.

Maintain consistent tone. Use custom prompts to ensure all your content matches a specific brand voice, reading level, or communication style.

Integrated workflow. The rephraser is built into SoundWorks alongside voice cloning, transcription, and video tools. Rephrase a transcript, generate a script, then feed it directly into voice synthesis — all in one application.

What You Can Do

Polish narration scripts. Write a rough draft and let AI refine it into a professional narration script ready for voice generation with VibeVoice or TTS.

Translate video scripts. Translate scripts from one language to another for multilingual video production. Use the translation directly in Slide-to-Video or voice cloning workflows.

Rewrite subtitles. Take auto-generated subtitles from Whisper transcription and rephrase them for readability, conciseness, or a different language.

Generate content variations. Create multiple versions of the same message for A/B testing, social media variants, or different audience segments.

Simplify technical content. Take complex technical documentation and rephrase it for a general audience. Convert expert-level material into accessible explanations.

Create social media copy. Generate social media posts, descriptions, and captions from longer content. Adapt your message for different platforms and character limits.

How It Works

Step 1: Enter your text. Type, paste, or import text into the AI Rephraser interface. This can be a script, notes, a transcript, or any text you want to process.

Step 2: Choose your action. Select from built-in actions (rephrase, translate, summarize, expand, simplify) or write a custom prompt for specific transformations.

Step 3: Select the AI model. Choose between ChatGPT and Claude models. Each has different strengths — experiment to find which works best for your content type.

Step 4: Review and use. Review the AI output, make any adjustments, and use it in your project. Copy to clipboard, save to file, or feed directly into other SoundWorks tools.

Privacy Considerations

The AI Rephraser is the one area where SoundWorks communicates over the internet. When you send text to ChatGPT or Claude, that text travels to their servers for processing. DMKI Lab is not involved in this communication — the traffic goes directly from your device to OpenAI or Anthropic using your own API key.

If your text contains sensitive information, consider whether sending it to a cloud AI service aligns with your privacy requirements. All other SoundWorks features remain fully offline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own API key? Yes. The AI Rephraser requires an API key from OpenAI (for ChatGPT) or Anthropic (for Claude). You enter the key in SoundWorks settings, and it is stored locally on your device.

How much does it cost to use? SoundWorks itself is free. The API usage cost depends on your provider’s pricing and how much text you process. Typical usage costs a few cents per request.

Is my text sent to DMKI Lab? No. Text is sent directly from your device to OpenAI or Anthropic. DMKI Lab does not intercept, proxy, or store any of this data.

Can I use it offline? No. The AI Rephraser requires an internet connection to communicate with ChatGPT or Claude. This is the only SoundWorks feature that requires internet access.

What languages are supported for translation? ChatGPT and Claude support dozens of languages. Translation quality is best for widely spoken languages and varies for less common ones.

Can I create custom prompts? Yes. In addition to built-in actions, you can write custom prompts to perform any text transformation the AI model supports.
